And no… I’m not promising miracle detox drinks.

Summer has a funny way of changing our habits.

Here in Greece, when the afternoon sun becomes a little too ambitious, even the simplest things begin to slow down. We look for lighter meals, a shady corner, a good book and, of course, something refreshing to drink.

Lately, I’ve been seeing countless posts online promising that cucumber water will transform your skin, ginger water will “detox” your body or lemon water will somehow solve every health problem imaginable.

Personally, I don’t really believe in miracle drinks.

A glass of water that you genuinely enjoy drinking is far more useful than a miracle drink you will never actually prepare.

If adding a few slices of fruit, fresh herbs or spices encourages you to drink a little more water during the day, that is already a habit worth keeping.

So, instead of chasing miracles, let’s simply make water a little more beautiful, flavourful and enjoyable.

9 REFRESHING WATER INFUSIONS TO TRY THIS SUMMER

1. Lemon & Mint

This is probably the easiest combination to start with.

Fresh, light and wonderfully refreshing, lemon and mint can make an ordinary glass of water feel much more inviting on a hot afternoon.

🌿 Why you may enjoy it

It is quick to prepare, inexpensive and perfect if plain water sometimes feels a little boring.

☀️ Perfect for: hot summer afternoons, long walks and days spent outdoors.

2. Cucumber & Mint

There is something about cucumber water that instantly feels cool and refreshing.

The flavour is delicate rather than sweet, while the mint gives it an extra sense of freshness. Leave it in the fridge for a few hours and serve it with plenty of ice.

🌿 Why you may enjoy it

It is a lovely choice for people who prefer mild flavours and do not want fruit-infused water to taste too sweet.

💻 Perfect for: working at the laptop, quiet mornings and warm afternoons at home.

3. Orange & Chia

If you enjoy citrus flavours but want something softer and naturally sweeter than lemon, orange slices are a lovely alternative.

You can also add a small amount of chia seeds if you enjoy their texture, although they are completely optional.

🌿 Why you may enjoy it

The orange adds colour, aroma and a subtle sweetness without the need for added sugar.

📚 Perfect for: afternoon reading breaks and slow summer mornings.

4. Watermelon & Mint

Possibly the most summery combination on this list.

Watermelon gives the water a delicate fruity flavour and a beautiful colour, while mint keeps everything fresh and light.

🌿 Why you may enjoy it

It is colourful, fun and a great way to use a few leftover pieces of watermelon.

🏖️ Perfect for: after the beach, garden lunches and sunny weekends.

5. Pineapple & Ginger

This combination has a slightly more tropical personality.

The pineapple adds natural sweetness, while a few thin slices of ginger give the water a gentle kick. Start with a very small amount of ginger and add more only if you enjoy a stronger flavour.

🌿 Why you may enjoy it

It feels bright, lively and particularly satisfying when served ice cold.

🥋 Perfect for: after training, active mornings and days when you want something a little more exciting than plain water.

6. Apple & Cinnamon

This may not be the first flavour that comes to mind during the middle of summer, but it has a comforting aroma that feels like a tiny preview of autumn.

Add a few thin apple slices and one small cinnamon stick to cold water and allow the flavours to develop in the fridge.

🌿 Why you may enjoy it

It is aromatic, gently sweet and perfect when you want a change from citrus flavours.

🌙 Perfect for: quiet evenings on the balcony and book-filled afternoons.

7. Strawberry & Basil

Strawberries add a light sweetness and beautiful colour, while basil gives the drink a more interesting and grown-up flavour.

If basil feels too adventurous, strawberries also work beautifully on their own or with mint.

🌿 Why you may enjoy it

It looks lovely, tastes fresh and can make an everyday bottle of water feel a little more special.

🧺 Perfect for: summer lunches, picnics and relaxed weekends.

8. Ginger & Lemon

Bright, fresh and slightly spicy, ginger and lemon are ideal for people who prefer stronger flavours.

You only need a few thin slices of ginger, as its flavour becomes more intense the longer it stays in the water.

🌿 Why you may enjoy it

It is aromatic, refreshing and offers a completely different experience from sweeter fruit combinations.

🌅 Perfect for: busy mornings and anyone who enjoys bold flavours.

9. Cumin Water

This is certainly the most unusual suggestion on the list.

Cumin has a distinctive earthy flavour, so this combination will not appeal to everyone. If you are curious, begin with a very small quantity and see whether it suits your taste.

🌿 Why you may enjoy it

Because sometimes experimenting with something completely different is part of the fun.

✨ Perfect for: adventurous drinkers who enjoy spices and unusual flavours.

ZENIA’S SUMMER MOOD GUIDE

☀️ Hot afternoon: Lemon & Mint

💻 Working at the laptop: Cucumber & Mint

📚 Reading a good book: Orange & Chia

🏖️ After the beach: Watermelon & Mint

🥋 After training: Pineapple & Ginger

🌙 Quiet evening on the balcony: Apple & Cinnamon

There is no complicated science behind this little mood guide—only flavours, moments and small summer rituals that make an ordinary day feel a little nicer.

☀️ My Little Summer Challenge

Do not try to prepare all nine combinations at once.

Choose just one.

Prepare a bottle or glass pitcher, leave it in the fridge for a few hours and notice whether you naturally drink more water than you usually would.

If the answer is yes, you have already found something useful.

If not, try a different combination next time.

A Few Simple Preparation Tips

  • Wash all fruit, vegetables and herbs carefully before using them.
  • Use cold water and allow the ingredients to infuse in the refrigerator.
  • Start with small quantities, especially when using ginger, cinnamon or cumin.
  • Remove citrus peel if the water begins to taste bitter.
  • Keep the drink refrigerated and prepare a fresh batch regularly.
  • Infused water complements ordinary hydration; it does not replace a balanced diet or medical advice.

A Small Habit Worth Keeping

I do not believe that one drink can transform your health or appearance overnight.

But I do believe that small and enjoyable habits can quietly improve our everyday routines.

If making water a little prettier and more flavourful encourages you to drink more of it, that already sounds like a small victory.

Sometimes wellness is not about discovering the next miracle.

Sometimes it is simply about making a healthy habit easier to enjoy.

Instead of chasing miracle drinks, let’s make water a little more beautiful—and a little easier to enjoy.

So this summer, fill a pitcher, add a few fresh ingredients, find a shady corner and take a slow sip.

You may discover that the simplest rituals are often the ones we keep the longest.

🌿 Before You Go…

Healthy habits do not always need to feel like work. Sometimes they simply need to feel a little more beautiful.
