Trikala Korinthias: where spring meets the snow 🌿
There are places that don’t need much to win you over. Just a bit of fresh air, endless green landscapes, and that quiet feeling that makes you slow down without even realizing it.
Trikala Korinthias is exactly that. A destination just about 1.5–2 hours from Athens, yet far enough to feel like a true escape.
And the best part? The journey itself is part of the experience. Small villages along the way, winding roads through nature, and views that gently ease you into a slower pace.
A place where nature, warm people, little streams and hidden corners, lush green valleys, and even spring snow all come together.
What we loved most
What makes Trikala special isn’t just one specific spot — it’s the small moments you collect along the way.
In Mesaia Trikala, we came across Mrs. Eleni’s shop, a small treasure filled with local goodies and charming little finds that instantly make you smile.
The village center itself is worth a slow walk. Neat, welcoming, and full of cozy little corners perfect for wandering without a plan.
And somewhere in between, a rock bakery playing Led Zeppelin through speakers — loud enough to echo through the village. Unexpected… but unforgettable.
Stay & hospitality
Trikala Korinthias is full of beautiful guesthouses that blend perfectly with the natural surroundings.
We stayed at Mavraganiko, where we were welcomed by the kind owner and taken care of by the lovely Mrs. Ioulianna.
A spotless, thoughtfully designed room with an incredible view — and a breakfast you honestly don’t want to end.
Walks, nature & little discoveries
In Kato Trikala, things feel even more magical. Wooden fairy houses, hidden paths, and little trails inviting you to explore without any plan.
At the beginning of your route, make sure to stop by the waterfalls. Take a deep breath, slow down, and if you can, drink fresh spring water from one of the village fountains.
For something a bit more adventurous, the Ziria ski center offers breathtaking views, spring snow, and — if you’re lucky — wild horses roaming freely.
And if you feel like going a little further, Evrostina will reward you with waterfalls and streams that complete the whole nature experience.
A destination for every season
Although Trikala Korinthias is mostly known as a winter destination, spring might just be its most magical side.
The snow hasn’t fully melted yet, nature is at its peak, and the landscape feels like it’s gently balancing between two seasons.
Why you should go
Because you don’t really need much. Just a small escape, fresh air, and a little time for yourself.
Trikala Korinthias isn’t about “doing things.” It’s about feeling.
And maybe… that’s exactly what we need most. 🤍
