Some moments don’t need much to feel special. A quiet evening, soft lighting, and a warm cup of hot chocolate that feels like a hug.
This vegan hot chocolate is one of those simple recipes that never disappoint. Dimitris asks for it all the time, and maybe it’s the perfect way to say a gentle goodbye to winter… just before spring fully arrives.
Vegan Hot Chocolate — Zenia’s Recipe
Ingredients (for 2 cups)
- Almond milk or coconut milk
- 4–5 teaspoons cocoa powder
- Carob syrup (instead of sugar)
Instructions
Measure the milk directly using your cups and pour it into a small pot. Add the cocoa powder and carob syrup, then heat on medium while stirring until everything becomes smooth and well combined.
Tip: If the milk is at room temperature, the chocolate will come together faster and more evenly.
Serve just before it starts to boil for a smoother texture and taste.
Little touches that make a difference
- If using coconut milk, sprinkle coconut flakes on top
- Pair it with your favorite vegan cookies… or try my Greek vegan moustokouloura (must cookies)
for an extra cozy moment 🤍
Zenia’s little secret 🤎
Carob syrup isn’t just a natural sweetener. It gives your hot chocolate a richer, velvety texture without making it watery, while also being naturally high in calcium and antioxidants.
Closing thoughts…
A cup of hot chocolate won’t fix everything. But sometimes, it’s exactly the small pause we need.
And the best part? You can enjoy it just the way you like — warm and cozy on your sofa, or iced and refreshing on warmer spring days.
A gentle idea:
Make your hot chocolate on a quiet Sunday evening, dim the lights, and give yourself a few minutes of calm. Sometimes, that’s more than enough.
