At the Opening of a New Exhibition at International Art Center Athens

Last Saturday, my little artist Dimitris and I had the opportunity to attend the opening of the exhibition “The Networks of Ye Dongsheng and the Landscapes of Shen Xianwei”, hosted at the International Art Center (IACA) in Athens, Greece.

Curated by Ioannis Kolokotronis, the exhibition presents the work of two distinguished Chinese artists and will run from June 20 to August 9, 2026.

The venue itself felt bright, welcoming and full of life. Artists, visitors and cultural professionals moved between the artworks, creating an atmosphere that felt more like a gathering of ideas than a traditional exhibition opening.

Among the works on display, I was particularly drawn to the compositions featuring butterflies, flowers and vibrant colors. They gave me a sense of continuous movement between nature, memory and the passage of time. Other pieces were more abstract and invited a slower, more personal interpretation.

The International Art Center Athens is a unique cultural space dedicated to fostering dialogue between Eastern and Western artistic traditions. Through exhibitions, events and cultural collaborations, it serves as a bridge between different cultures, perspectives and forms of artistic expression.

Experiences like this remind me how valuable it is to say “yes” to small cultural adventures, even when we do not know exactly what we will discover.

Sometimes we attend an exhibition simply to see the artwork, yet we leave having met new people, heard new stories or viewed the world from a slightly different perspective.

Images, sounds and experiences always leave something behind, and I especially enjoy sharing these moments with Dimitris as he grows up surrounded by different cultures, ideas and creative influences.

This is one of the reasons I love exploring new places, new cultures and new stories. As a writer, content creator and tutor, I am always fascinated by the spaces where different worlds meet and meaningful conversations begin.
